Gay Pride Parade
Seriously..??
The common parade which I know normally such as flower parade, parade during Independence Day, or disable person parade.
Flower parade, a parade in which the vehicles are decorated with thousands of flower, followed with marching band or people in costume. They are showing the unique flower of their origin and the identity of their nation. They showed the pride of their nation and the beauty of their flower.
Then, there is parade which celebrated by disable person. This parade is held to change the way people think about and define disability, so people more understand them and more accept disable people.
And, what about gay pride parade? This issue was recently booming after USA Supreme Court legalized gay married in June 26, 2015 in all 50 U.S. states. This parade was started long time ago in June 28, 1970 to mark the date of Stonewall riots. And since then, all the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) feel like the world is theirs. LGBT fans celebrating through social media, how happy they are to get the equal right of marriage.
According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_pride_parade), “Pride parades are used by LGBT community to celebrating the LGBT culture and pride”. These parades held in NYC, London, Brazil, and many more cities all over the world. Which make me wonder, what kind of pride they’re celebrating?
According to dictionary, “pride is a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, the achievements of one’s close associates, or from the qualities or possessions that are widely admired.”
To be honest, what is the pride of being LGBT? What is their achievement that they want to show off? For me, these parades are used to encourage other people to become gay. Also a moment for LGBT to meet, expand their gay acquaintances, or hunting. With this parade, LGBT trying to send message to people who still not sure about their identity that “they are exist, and you are not alone, don’t be shy, it’s normal”.
This parade is surely a treat for normal social life. Yes, I’m using the word “normal”, because I believe LGBT is abnormal. There are a lot of debates and arguments to define the abnormality of LGBT. Previously, it was categorized as sexual orientation disorder, and now it is categorized as sexual variation. I will not define the abnormality from religion point of view, because I’m not a saint, and because religion is private relation between human and creator. I will not define the abnormality from morality point of view, because morality is decided by society where people live.
As you know, LGBT cannot naturally create another human. What if all people are LGBT? Surely, human will vanished from earth, extinct. And it is enough reason for me to call them abnormal.
They are different, but they are still human who have rights to live. I don’t really care what the world has offered them. They can marry, they can take critical position in the government, and they can pray to God, it is really not my concern.
What I really worry is the future of my kids. In my opinion and experience, LGBT person is really aggressive. Maybe it is because of the fact that LGBT population is 5% – 7% of population. I myself have been become target of them twice, even though they knew I’m straight and have a good marriage.
This world has a lot of thing to offer. Don’t let your kid fall to the trap called gay pride parade. This is the most ridiculous parade I’ve known. Protect your family, and parent should show the kid what the truly love is, by giving good sample through themselves.
This writing is merely my own opinion. Anyone who has different opinion and data are welcome to put their comment.

This temple is a Shinto temple which located in Kamakura City, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan.

To reach the shrine, we can use train to Kamakura Station. From Kamakura station, the gate of the shrine can be reach within 15 minutes by walk.

Some interesting view that you can find in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine is as follow:

Front gate (Torii) – which is the sign of the existence of Shinto shrine which can be built in various material and color.

Torii gate

Offering Hall

Purification through – Shall be found near the entrance. The water flow out from the fountains is used to purify. We can clean our hands and mouth before get in to the main hall.

The paper contain prediction from good fortune (daikichi) to bad fortune (daikyo). By tie it up in the three branch, the good fortune hopefully become real and the bad fortune can be averted.

Omikuji

Shimenawa – Is a straw rope with white zigzag paper. The purpose is to mark the boundary of sacred place, which commonly found in torii gate, around a big trees or stones. This rope also worn by yokozuna, the highest ranked of sumo wrestlers during ritual ceremony. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any picture of this 😦

The giant ginkgo – This giant tree is a very famous tree in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine as it always appear in every old print of the shrine. Unfortunately, the tree already rotten when I came and greatly damaged on March 10, 2010 at 4:40.

Giant ginkgo

Well, that’s it! If I have time, I try to visit another tourism spot in Japan 🙂

I remember a time when I read an article about how the action you take will affect the rest of your day. It said that 10% of event that happen to a person is beyond someone control and the rest of 90% is depends on how we react to the 10%.

The article shown a good sample of what is mean by the 10-90. But here I’ll not repeat the same sample but to show you the similar think as what was happened between Manchester United vs Liverpool on December 11, 2012, especially about the decision made by Luis Suarez.

Suarez came to Old Trafford after completing his sentence suspended eight games due to case racism against Patrice Evra. This time both player will face each other for the first time.

For sportmanship’s reason, all games shall be started with handshake between player of two teams. This event is part of the 10% that beyond Suarez control, and his reaction to this handshake will lead how the rest 90% will be ending, which is will be good or bad ending.

As we all the football lovers knew very well, despite the statement of Liverpool’s manager Kenny Dalglish that said Suarez would shake hands with Evra, Suarez unexpectedly refused to shake hands. This action then lead Suarez to the chain reaction as follow:

1. The tension of the game was increased.
2. Little accident between players during halftime when heading to changing room.
3. Evra did an excessive celebration for mocking Suarez, which I’m sure if Liverpool won the game, Suarez will did the same thing to Evra.
4. As the result of the celebration, other players become emotional which forced the security/ police and the game steward involved to calm all players.
5. FA conducted an investigation about the chaos in the game, although finally both teams decided not sentenced to anything.
6. The sponsor of Liverpool get disappointed with Suarez’s action, which make the Liverpool owner strongly warned Suarez, and finally Suarez once again have to apologize to public and to Manchester United.

So, by had been acting negatively to the 10%, Suarez has chosen to make the rest of 90% become worse.
Can you imagine what would happened if Suarez made the handshake to Evra or even more dramatic to hug Evra? Yup.. of course everyone will see Suarez as a big gentlemen and all the 6 items above will not happened. But, unfortunately, Suarez has made terrible decision.

Please remember the formula of 10-90, and I’m sure that you will think more clearly when you face such a bad 10% of your day that beyond your control to get a good thing of the rest 90%.

Have a good day 😀

I want to share about using Google Maps to find route and more information such as address and travel cost.

Well, the story begun when I started working in Yokohama, Japan.
I’ve been asked to extend my passport validity. In my previous company in Jakarta, when I needed to go somewhere, I’ll just call the lobby and ask the operator to prepare a driver to me to get me anywhere. In Japan, it’s a little bit differ because you have to go by yourself with your own cost which you can reimburse later.

The problem is how is you don’t know how to reach the place, as in my case, I just new in Japan, and to find address in Japan is completely difficult. There is no name for the road and the number of building or area is not in correct number of sequence. I guess only the postman who knew how to find address in Japan.

In this case, I have to thank to Google Maps because it’s make a lot easier to find address. I’ll show you how I can get the direction to Indonesia Embassy in Tokyo, while my office is in Yokohama City.

Firstly, open Google and click on tab “Maps”. Fill in the keyword KBRI Tokyo (green circle), and you will got as depict below:

Some places might be written in Japanese character Kanji (brown box), but by selecting the test and copy paste to google translate, you can find easily what the meaning is.

After I’m sure that it’s is the place I want, right click on the maps will show you some option. Then choose “Direction to here” (red circle).

The screen in google maps will show the following:

The location that I put as target (red box) which mean “Indonesian embassy” will be mark as “B” and in the column “B” will show the complete address.

The next step is to find where the place that I’ll be use as my starting point. I zoom out the map, I move until I find Yokohama city, then I zoom in the location that I quite recognize. I browse until I find the train station “Sakuragicho” which is the nearest station to my office.

In the map, precisely on the test “Sakuragicho”, right click and choose “Direction from here” (red box).
And automatically, Google Maps will processing the data because the start and end point already defined. And the result will be as shown below:

Notice the green box, there are some alternatives you can use to reach that location, for example automobiles, trains, and on foot. If we select a car, of course, google maps will show the route of the road. Google maps here suggesting for a train with a few choice lines as indicated in the brown box. The alternatives train route shown completely with the travel duration and total cost… really impressive.

In the red box, we also can define when we will start our journey, the date and the hour. These things quite important because the train schedule is not the same on weekdays or weekend, and also the interval is different according to rush hour (7-10 am and 3-7 pm).

It’s pretty amazing, isn’t it?

If we pick one of the alternative route, the maps will show you the path (pink marked in google maps), the transit station, which line to be used and the direction, and how many station you will pass… (wow), as shown below:

Really informative, isn’t it?
This is indicate that the mass transportation in Japan is really efficient with a very accurate and up-to-date data. If our target should using bus, Google maps will also show the data of the bus.

So, that it is. I hope this information will be useful to you too.

Sequential pictures below are the air raising process of a dome roof tank in Brunei Methanol Project, Brunei Darussalam. The tank is Product Methanol Tank with 63 metres inside diameter, 18 metres shell height and 50.4 metres radius dome roof. The air raising process was done on April 27th, 2009.

In this project, Brunei Methanol Company, Sdn. Bhd. is the owner, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. is the main contractor, PT. Rekayasa Industri is the sub-contractor, where as Consortium of Adinin Works & Engineering and PT. Bangun Bejana Baja is the manufacturer of 15 units KD Tanks.

Air Tight Test

This picture was the air tight test for checking the roof air sealing. It was done one day before the air raising process to ensure there was no leak in the air seal. A group of people were left inside and the tank pressurize with air by blower. After the roof float a few centimetres and no leakage or folded seal found then the test was finished.

Team gathering early morning

One day after the air tight test, the air raising was started. All crew was come to site in early morning.

Tool box meeting

The tool box meeting to ensure all crew knew their position and when they should do their job.

Air blower & air box access

These were the equipment to raise the roof. There are 4 sets (tandem) of blower which powered by separated generator, and an air box as the access to enter or exit the tank. In the process not all the blower used to pressurize the tank, 1 set was used as a back-up blower.

Balancing wire installation

This was the view of inside tank before air raised process. Inside the tank there were lamps to brighten inside, manometer as internal pressure indicator, and balancing wire fully installed.

Double block installation

This is double block for the rail of balancing wire. One wire sling come from above top shell through the roof and continue to the opposite side of roof tank then going down and fixed to the lower shell. There are 8 pair of double block to guide 16 balancing wire.

Completed preparation

The complete set of inside tank preparation with continuous air seal around tank.

T-frame balancing wire

On of the equipment outside tank was the T-frame. This part was to guide the balancing wire from inside tank and fixed the end of wire to outside shell. There are 16 T-frame to guide 16 balancing wire.

Balancing wire with load indicator

4 numbers of the balancing wire were equipped with load cell indicator. This equipment was electrically connected to processor (computer) to show the tension of the balancing wire.

Laser level indicator

4 numbers of laser level indicator placed around tank, of course to indicate the position of the roof during floating, and were connected to computer in the control room.

Reflector laser level indicator

This is the reflector of laser level indicator.

Finish preparation for air raising

After ensure all the preparation were complete, include the flag of the involved party, the air raising can be proceed.

Air raising in progress

This was showing the roof floating more than half way. Approximately more 5 metres before the roof touching the tension bar.

Air raising in progress 2

The roof almost touching the tension bar and all crew already came to their position.

Worker ready to fit-up the roof

The fit-up of roof to tension bar can be started right after the roof touch the tension bar. In this process no welding was allowed before the entire jig were installed. This was to avoid the air seal got burn because of the torch from welding.

Fit-up on progress

Another side of the tank during air raising process. One special platform provided for better view of commander to make instruction.

Fit-up on progress 2

Fit-up process started with jig and horse-only without any welding, right after the roof touched the tension bar.

Fit-up jig and horse shoe

The installed jig and horse shoe. There are 96 set of jig required, each for one roof plate section.

Fit-up roof to tension bar

After completed all jig, fit-up for flattened roof plate to tension bar started. U-bar and bullpen used during this process.

Welding roof to tension bar

After roof fit-up completed, welding roof plate to tension bar can be started. One single pass weld minimum required before the jig can be removed from roof.

Completed air raising dome roof

After completed one pass welding of roof to tension bar, it was save now to leave the tank, and take a lunch break. The lifting itself take time only 2 hours, but the whole process started from 6 o’clock in the morning and finished at 12 o’clock.

Air raising team

This is the team who involved during the air raising process. Posed on the top of dome roof, without me who was taken the picture at that time. 😦 Cheers!!

TipuKananKiri

Good night everyone.

This is a DVD cover of a movie titled : “Tipu Kanan Tipu Kiri” (in English: Lying Here Lying There). This is a comedian romantic movie which gives us a lesson of the consequences of lying. This movie showing the story of Wulan, a famous superstar, who attached to an agreement that stated she can’t marry while she is in contract to a sponsor. Unfortunately, she already married to Rudy, a General Manager in a company in Kuala Lumpur. Because of this situation, they had to hide their marriage to public, and that’s how the chaotic situation begins. The lie begins when Rudy’s boss want to make his welcome party with condition Rudy has to bring his wife. After sharing with a friend, his friend suggests him a stupid way to solve the problem by hiring a girl to pretend to be his wife. Rudy refuse at the first time, but his friend can convince him that everything will be just fine. They hire Sara, a club singer. At first, Sara refuses the job, but after seeing the hospitality of Rudy she agreed finally and even she fall in love to Rudy. Their plan work, but then Rudy has to continue to hire the girl because his boss’ wife invites them once again. There is one conflict when Wulan come home and ask Rudy to pick her sister but Rudy looks like not interested, and its make Wulan get angry. Rudy sing a song that Sara had sang in Rudy’s boss party to calm down Wulan, and its work. But then the song was used by Wulan in her next album, and Sara really disappointed because her song stolen by her idol star. And that’s how Rudy get trapped into so many problems.

This movie really shows us how one single lie will lead us to another. We have to lie again to hide our previous lie and it will continue further and further, before we realize that we have become a different person.

I’ve been hiding a big secret for more than five years. A big secret that force me to lie to every person I know. That moment was very hard. It make me an introvert, a personality that completely different with the real me. At last, the secret found its way to reveal, and I also started to feel both tense and release. Its make me realize that hiding something is very hard and will not bring you any good in your life. It’s just a matter of time until your lies revealed.

So, be honest to your family and friend. Don’t start to make a lie because it can change the way you are.

Keep Smiling..!! :D

big_smile12Hello everyone.

I remember one of Barney & Friends’ songs about how they welcome the morning everyday. I don’t exactly remember the lyrics but it’s says to put a big smile on your face everyday in the morning and soon you will find the whole world smile back to you. It is a child song, but I think it is for everyone, every gender, no matters how old you are, what you do and where you come from.

Smiling is fun yet powerful. If you meet stranger on the street and you give your smile, he/she for sure will also smile for you. If you have been introduced to someone by someone else, the first thing you do must be smiling. By smiling to someone, you give hospitality and a sign that you are friendly and won’t do any harm to people.

For more than 2 years, I’ve been working in high pressure situation. I’m a tank builder and with my position as project engineer, I have done so many times arguing about differences interpretation with client. Sometimes the client interpreted the code or standard different with I did. Usually, their interpretation will charge me more cost, while in the other hand, my interpretation will lowering their standard. In that situation combine with mostly hot temperature on site, will make you can’t thinking clearly and won’t give you any solution. If the solution can not achieve, it will taken into meeting room. The result of the meeting will depend on our attitude. If the member entered the room with a tense expression, the discussion will spent long time and the conversation will be tough. So, the first time good thing to do is smiling since the beginning you entered the room so that the member will know that you are came to looking for solution. With this kind of attitude, the meeting usually ended with win-win solution.

Make this smiling face as a habit. So many good things will happen to you everyday. When you see the sun rice on the east, do not forget to put the best smile on your face, and the whole world will smile back to you. Everyday will be another happy day :D.
